Anxiety in your 20s and 30s? Yeah, it’s normal and manageable.

While women are more likely to experience anxiety, men often neglect to treat their anxiety

Having too much anxiety is a medical condition, like high blood pressure or diabetes. There’s no shame in getting treatment for it.

Anxiety can be as much an intelligent emotion that motivates, as a paralyzing feeling of panic. I’ve settled into the belief that anxiety is not a problem to be solved nor a part of you to be totally eliminated. Rather, I view anxiety as a complex part of ourselves to better understand.

In therapy, we’ll get curious about the function(s) of our anxiety, practice relaxation techniques to take the edge off the feeling, and get you more comfortable with anxiety so it doesn’t prevent you from living the life you want. Fairly often, it turns out that anxiety is actually pointing out our deepest values and directing us where we’d like to go & grow.

Signs You Might Be Dealing with Anxiety:

An anxiety disorder can take several forms in your 20s and 30s. It’s a feeling of stress that turns into a prolonged, tiring mental marathon that can creep into every part of your day. Here’s how you might know it’s hanging around:

  • Your mind won’t shut off – Trouble sleeping? Can’t seem to relax? Your brain’s stuck in overdrive with worry.

  • Can’t focus on anything else – You sit down to work or even to relax, but your thoughts won’t stop replaying every little thing that could go wrong.

  • Nervous energy and exhaustion – It’s a paradox. Anxiety will have you feeling restless and mentally drained all at once. You’re worn out, but too on-edge to rest.

  • Sense of doom – Anxiety gets you expecting the worst before anything’s even happened. You’re on red alert for bad things to happen.

  • Playing the “What If?” game – You’re always asking “What if?” and imagining worst-case scenarios.

  • Avoidance mode – You get a huge urge to dodge the stuff that makes you anxious. Your anxious brain says ‘no thanks’ to trying out that new run club or telling her how you really feel.

If this sounds like you, know that it doesn’t have to be like this. Anxiety might be the main part of the game right now, but you don’t have to play by its rules forever.

Think You’ve Got Anxiety Disorder? Let’s Explore It Together

Treating anxiety with therapy can be transformative for your mental health, your relationships, and your work.

Here’s what we’ll do:

  • Understand What’s Driving Your Anxiety – Together, we’ll figure out what’s really behind those anxious feelings. Knowing the “why” helps you control the “how” to get better.

  • Spot and Break the Patterns – Anxiety loves a routine, especially those negative thought loops. We’ll identify the triggers and start rewriting and unlearning those patterns so they don’t hijack your day.

  • Build Your Toolbox – Coping isn’t just about staying calm. I’ll help you find strategies that actually work for you and tools you can reach for when anxiety strikes so it doesn’t knock you off your path.

Hi I’m Ben, a business operations manager turned therapist

Chances are I used to (and sometimes still do) feel similarly anxious like you do. Prior to counseling, I worked full-time in operations for nearly 10 years at companies like Uber and Gartner. During this time I was often exhausted, disconnected, and anxiously wondering if I’d ever find work that actually mattered to me. It took some proverbial soul-searching, but I finally figured out one of my core gifts is to find gifts in others.

So I switched gears, scaled back from full-time to contracting work in operations, went to school for counseling and put some blind faith in the universe that things would work out, even if I didn’t know when or how.

Now, as a licensed mental health professional, I work with 20 and 30 year old men like you to help you uncover what you really want, shift your mindset, and set intentional goals to create a life you actually look forward to. If there’s even the smallest part of you whispering “Enough - I’m ready to change” I’ve got the tools, structure, and support to help you make it happen. Let’s take a shot at building a life you’re genuinely excited about.
