The Job Search in 2025
The job search process if full of trap doors, sand pits, thousands of other competitive applicants who were a part of the federal lays offs or Big Tech layoffs, and those spammy recruiting bots on LinkedIn and phishing job opportunity texts. It will eat you alive if you’re not careful and not strategic.
If you’re stuck or confused by how to find a new role given the influence of remote-work + AI on the job search, I’m here to help!

What's not working?
Most job seekers rely on two common strategies: applying to job boards or trying to get help from recruiters.
Both approaches are often ineffective. Recruiters work for employers, not candidates, so they usually won’t engage unless you’re a near-perfect fit. With hundreds (sometimes thousands) of applicants responding to a job post within hours of it going live on LinkedIn, centralizing your efforts on applying to job posts can quickly lead to burnout, self-doubt, and a stalled search.

What's working?
Treating the job search like a marathon — it’s about as much about execution as it is a mental game.
For example, you’ll want to get creative in your networking. The majority of jobs come through a referral and, even if you don’t have an existing contact at the company, it is VERY possible to get one.
Mentally, you’ll need to stay optimistic and focused while bracing for rejection, handling ambiguity, and knowing when to recharge. Said differently, you’re going to need a lot of mental flexibility.

How therapy can help?
Listen, you’re about to do something ballsy and hard. The way we’re going to approach this, we’re just going to do a little bit every week. We’ll do some resume tweaking one week, anxiety management techniques the next. Little by little, you’ll create more momentum. And if you fall off and get distracted, get busy with work, have a mini mental breakdown, don’t worry. That’s normal. We’re just going to get you back on the horse and try to accomplish the next goal.

What sets me apart?
I’m relatable, experienced, and empathetic. I see myself as the ultimate dual threat to help you quarterback your job search (Lamar Jackson, but make him a career counselor).
In the past 10 years, I’ve landed full-time roles at multiple leading companies (Uber, Rula, Gartner) and continue to get part-time contracting positions. So, unlike most counselors, I am (as well as my network) actively trialing and erroring these techniques in real time.
At the same time, I’m trained and licensed to support you through the intense, often unwanted, and conflicting emotions that come up when applying to jobs.
